In the early days of the Industrial Revolution, factories were almost exclusively constructed using brick and mortar. While today the practice has largely faded out, the classic old warehouses of yesteryear still stand as a testament to strength and character. The benefit of a masonry exterior is that conversion from industrial to residential is far more feasible and even desirable. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some amazing examples of converted warehouses.
This piece by McLaren.Excell, located in Shoreditch area of London, was used as a merchant warehouse for almost 100 years.Another London entry is this beautiful loft by Felix&Martin Architects. Located in a heritage conservation area, the original style was maintained.This iconic warehouse in San Francisco was converted into lofts by Edmonds + Lee Architects.The Strelein Warehouse, located in Sydney, Australia, was converted into a 2-floor residence by Ian Moore Architects.Set in the historic Old Mill District of Bend, Oregon, the Mill Quarter phases are beautiful conversions by BLRB Architects.

I’ve actually seen that warehouse in San Francisco! The one that was converted into lofts by Edmonds + Lee Architects.
